The public will choose the anthem for Milano Cortina 2026
Onstage tonight at the 72nd Sanremo Festival, Arisa and Malika Ayane will perform Fino all ‘Alba (Until Dawn) and Un po' più in là (A Little Bit Further), the finalist songs for the musical competition to choose the anthem for Milano Cortina 2026. After appearing at Sanremo, the two singers will be present, along with the Italian delegation, at the closing ceremonies for the Beijing 2022 Winter Games. There, the Olympic and Paralympic flags will be handed over to the mayors of Milan and Cortina.
The Milano Cortina 2026 anthem project was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Universities and Research, and it reached conservatories, institutes, bands, and choirs across Italy. Master Peppe Vessicchio has led the artistic direction for the initiative that chose the two finalist pieces, which were presented during the open call by the musical group “La Cittadina San Pietro Martire di Seveso” from the province of Monza and Brianza and by the CPM Music Institute of Milan, a school founded and chaired by Franco Mussida.
At the end of the performance on the Ariston stage, the voting phase will open for the public to express their opinions on the official website for Milano Cortina 2026 (www.milanocortina2026.org) until February 22, 2022. As already was the case for choosing the emblem, people will decide what the winning song will be by voting from home. This participatory dynamic promotes and spreads the Olympic and Paralympic spirit that characterises the path to the 2026 Games.
The 72nd Italian Song Festival is the final phase for a competition that has featured proposals from 9 regions of Italy, presented by conservatories, institutions for higher education in the arts, music, and dance, and civil bands.
