The commitment of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane
The prestigious Olympic and Paralympic event will be a driving force and strategic accelerator of development for the Italian system as well as representing a key element for sharing the best energies of the country. For this reason, the FS group is committed with its companies and its four business hubs to enhancing the events scheduled within the Milano Cortina 2026 program.
The FS Infrastructure business unit will be committed to ensuring enhanced assistance, especially for people with reduced mobility, through the strengthening of facilities and ordinary maintenance in the stations and on the main railway lines to and from the Olympic and Paralympic areas.
In the same context, the Passenger business unit will increase train and bus connections, preparing specific offers and carnets.
The FS Group Urban business unit will take action regarding the availability of logistics hub areas and intermodal transport, making new hubs available for parking in the locations hosting the sporting events; they will also be involved in planning the regeneration of the spaces.
Lastly, the Logistics business unit will be entrusted with strengthening logistics facilities, and services will be enhanced through the local hubs managed by the unit.
An increasingly sustainable transport
Through these measures, the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group therefore intends to enhance and implement the enabling factors of its Industrial Plan. In the case of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games it will do so by ensuring effective, reliable and safe transport for all participants and residents, thus promoting the use of trains and sustainable transport. With this partnership Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 therefore intends to guarantee greater and easier accessibility to all citizens who want to enjoy the unique spectacle that only an event of global scope such as the Olympics and Paralympics can offer.
