This document outlines the environmental and social impacts of the entire lifecycle of the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Organising a Games attentive to sustainability and inclusion, which respond positively to a context of growing complexity and vulnerability at a global level. This is one of the main objectives that the Milano Cortina 2026 Games will have to achieve, as well as a fundamental legacy for our country and its future generations.
It is in this spirit that Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 presents the first Sustainability, Impact and Legacy Report which outlines the environmental and social impacts of the entire life cycle of the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The Games as a positive legacy for Italy
According to the CEO of Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 Andrea Varnier “the 2026 Games will represent an invaluable opportunity to inspire our stakeholders, partners and spectators, through the values of sport, suggesting concrete and tangible sustainability actions - fundamental elements of our legacy for the future. We see our contribution towards sustainability and a positive legacy for the country as a team activity. The report we present today identifies our commitments towards climate change, the circular economy, human rights, gender equality, accessibility and inclusion, as well as towards sporting activity as a source of well-being and towards sustainable local development. It is up to all of us, together, to make them a reality”.
The time to act is now and this is why the projects and initiatives that are part of the Milano Cortina 2026 sustainability and legacy program are identified with the Now26 label.
