Who is Eddie ‘The Eagle’?
Michael Thomas Edwards, also known as Eddie (born 5 December 1963 in Cheltenham), is a former British ski jumper. He was nicknamed ‘The Eagle’ and became famous for being the first British athlete to compete in ski jumping in the Winter Olympics. At the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, he finished last in the K70 and K90 events, but his determination and courage has made him a historical figure.
