What is meant by universal accessibility?
The presence of various types of barriers or obstacles may prevent or make it difficult to use a means of transport, acquire information, use a service, participate in and enjoy an event or experience the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Accessibility is a prerequisite for inclusion and social participation.
Universal accessibility means:
• Offering full participation in Milano Cortina 2026 and a fulfilling path for everyone, free of any barriers or discrimination;
• Considering the needs and desires of each person, regardless of their condition, disability, etc., or linguistic, cultural and gender differences;
• Aiming for the environmental wellbeing of spaces and territories involved in the Games and leaving a positive material and immaterial legacy;
• Equipping the environment with facilities inspired by universal design, which enables access, recognition and use in full autonomy, comfort, safety and pleasantness;
• Using these characteristics to rethink the living spaces, services and equipment to be used, information and communications to be given, received and exchanged.
