Para Ice Hockey

It is practised by athletes with a physical disability in their lower limbs. The players, no more than 6 per team, including the goalkeeper, who are present on the ice at the same time, sit on a sledge, wearing helmets to protect their heads, and use two sticks to move across the ice surface and control the hard rubber puck, with which they must score a goal in the opponent's goal. The duration of the 3 fractions of the game is 15 minutes.

The United States, Canada, Korea, the Czech Republic, Norway, Russia and Slovakia are at the top of the international competitions, but other countries are entering the world stage.

Among them is Italy, whose Paralympic placings are on the rise: 8th place in Turin in 2006, 7th place in Vancouver in 2010, 6th place in Sochi in 2014 and 4th place in Pyeonchang in 2018. The Italian national team was also European champion in 2011 and runner-up in 2016.

In Pyeonchang, gold went to the United States, with Canada second ahead of South Korea.
