WHEELCHAIR CURLING

A team sport open to male and female athletes with a physical disability in their lower limbs, it is played on an ice rink: the athletes throw the stone, a block of polished granite weighing about 20 kg, from a wheelchair positioned near the centre line. The aim is to get the stones as close as possible to the centre of a series of concentric circles. The throw can be performed through the movement of the athlete's hand or through a stick. The use of a broom in the normal phases of play is not permitted.

At Paralympic Games Pyeonchang 2018, China broke Canadian dominance in the discipline (gold at Paralymipc Games Turin 2006, Paralymipc Games Vancouver 2010 and Paralymipc Games Sochi 2014), prevailing over Norway and Canada, in order.
