Sports are for everyone
Active support for bringing people with disabilities closer to winter sportsTraining and promotion of Paralympic winter sports
Promoting inclusion through sport. This is the guiding principle of Adaptive Winter Sport, a project in the GEN26 Education Programme, with which Milano Cortina 2026 actively supports the Italian Paralympic Committee and related federation in organising introductory courses in winter sports for people with disabilities.
Sports Campuses
One of the primary goals of the project is to promote winter sports campuses. Here, children, teenagers and adults with disabilities can learn the basics of the six sports at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympics. The courses and activities are organised in collaboration with the Italian Ice Sports Federation and the Italian Paralympic Winter Sports Federation under the supervision of the Italian Paralympic Committee. The courses will be held by qualified instructors who have been trained through specific courses organised within the programme.
Training for coaches
Through the Adaptive Winter Sport project, Milano Cortina 2026 also focuses on training, organising courses for ice sports coaches and ski instructors. The initiative aims to encourage new skills in accessible sports accommodation and tourism and reinforce cooperation between amateur sports associations that focus on Paralympic summer and winter disciplines.
