Winter Games Week nelle scuole

A good 231,125 students from 720 schools have signed the initiative dedicated to spreading the values of sport and Olympic and Paralympic teachings.

Winter Games Week has arrived! To mark the occasion of 2 years to the start of Milano Cortina 2026, the Olympic and Paralympic Games has arrived at desks throughout Italy. From 5 to 9 February 2024, 720 entities, including primary and secondary schools and youth groups, took part in the initiative promoted by the Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 with the Ministry of Education and Merit 2026 and the support of CONI and the CIP, which aimed to dedicate an educational week to teaching the values ​​of sport and the Games. The figure skating champion Carolina Kostner, Ambassador of Milano Cortina 2026, was the patroness of the initiative, which falls within the scope of the Gen26 Education Program.

A project linked to Olympic values

In fact, the Olympics and Paralympics are not only the largest sporting event in the world, but are also a tool for spreading the culture of respect, citizenship, sustainability and inclusion. To raise awareness among girls and boys of these values ​​and spread the Olympic and Paralympic spirit in view of the next Winter Games. More than 50,000 young people took part in the project, 231,125 involved through their schools and communities of reference, 720 schools and youth groups in all regions of Italy. The registered schools received free teaching materials and training tools, with which they created interdisciplinary educational paths or one or more days of activities on the Olympics and Paralympics. Lessons in class, testimonies from athletes, sporting activities: the activities were varied, but they all achieved the objective of bringing girls and boys closer to the Olympic and Paralympic values.
