The International Olympic Committee offers Journalism and Communication students the unique opportunity to cover the next Olympic Winter Games

We all dream of one day experiencing the Olympics first-hand. And this will be possible at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, thanks to the opportunity offered by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to students from Italian Universities of Journalism and Communication, who will be able to report on the competitions and interview athletes from around the world as official reporters of the event.

OIS Sports Reporting Programme

The project, launched with the Tokyo 2020 Games, is called the OIS Sports Reporting Programme and, under the guidance of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and with the support of the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI) and Italian universities, aims to identify and nurture new talents in international sports journalism.

Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, within the framework of the #Gen26 Education Programme, has fully embraced the IOC initiative and promoted a selection process aimed at identifying 10 young aspiring journalists who will have the chance to cover the Olympic Winter Games 2026, working alongside experienced international sports reporters during the event.

How to participate

Selected candidates will join the Olympic Information Service (OIS) team, the official English-language information service of the Games for accredited journalists from all over the world.

Participation in this project is open to all young people between 18 and 26 years old as of 19 June 2024. Students of Journalism or Communication who have an advanced level of written and spoken English (full proficiency) are eligible for the selection.

Below, you will find all the documents to submit your application, before Midnight of 31 July 2024. The selection process will consist of three different steps: submission of a motivational letter and resume in English, followed by participation in a training day in Milan, and then a hands-on field experience at official competitions during one of the test events planned by Milano Cortina 2026.

The 10 reporters selected must ensure their availability to work on a fixed-term contract from 2 to 22 February 2026 for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina.

Live the Olympic dream with Milano Cortina 2026 and become a reporter!
